Recently, my favorite Great Aunt Gloria handed over her biscuit recipe. This was one of my favorite things to make with her when I was litte. We would gather around her island getting flour everywhere.

Making them by myself though, was something entirely different. I was so surprised how easy it was to make them all by myself….and even more surprised at how much they taste like Cracker Barrel Biscuits.


The ingredient list is so simple. You are going to need:

  • 2 Cups of Self-rising Flour
  • 1/4 Cup of Coconut Oil or Butter
  • 3/4 Cup of Milk
  • Cookie cutter
  • Pastry Blender

Total time for this recipe is about 20 minutes.


PREHEAT OVEN TO 425°Fahrenheit

First you start by mixing your flour and butter/oil. You use your pastry blender to press the cold butter into the flour until it creates a sort of crumble

Once at the the desired crumbly consistency, add in the milk and stir until you have to kneed it with your hands. (Make sure to flour your hands to prevent sticking.)

Flour your surface and press dough out to roughly 1/2 inch thick. Use cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Place cut biscuits on tray with parchment paper, and put in oven at 425° for 10 minutes.
